Harold Digby

Harold E. Digby, 78, of Maryville, Ill., born Dec. 30, 1931, in Eldorado, Ill., died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Digby served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Sterling Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Ill., and the Caseyville Moose. Harold enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding the birds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Mabel, nee Dillard, Digby; a brother, Stevie; and a sister, Delores Brooks.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara, "Carline" nee Newcombe, Digby whom he married on July 6, 1972; his children, Harold (Helena) Mike Digby of Yellm, Wash., Debbie (Pat) Kroeger of Palm Harbor, Fla., Pam (Bill) Scott of St. Louis, Mo., Sandy Ballard of Carmi, Ill., Vicky Tarrence of Maryville, Ill., Terry Ferris of Maryville, Ill., Shirley (Bruce) Huller of O'Fallon, Ill., and Bob (Julie) Hays of Maryville, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William "Billie" Digby of St. Peters, Mo.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
