Medric "Brad" "Mac" S. Carthy, Jr., 66, of O'Fallon, Ill., born Sept. 27, 1940, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
He was a retired utilities engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation,
where he worked for 35 years. More recently, he worked for Banner Fire Equipment for 18 years. He was a member of the O'Fallon Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years and retired as a captain. He was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in O'Fallon, and a member of St. Adalbert Parish Reunion Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Medric S. Carthy, Sr. and Sophia, nee Basinski, Carthy; and his daughter, Doris Trumpeter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary "Margie", nee Thompson, Carthy of O'Fallon, Ill.; his children, Robert J. Carthy of Caseyville, Lawrence D. (Janet) Carthy of Lebanon, Ill., James A. (Sharon) Carthy, Sr. of O'Fallon, Ill.; Daniel A. Carthy of Warner Robins, Ga., Debra A. (William) Hassard of Columbia, Mo., Michelle L. (Dan) Cohen of Westfield, Ill., Diane L. Diamond of O'Fallon, Ill., and Brad A. Carthy of O'Fallon, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Carthy of Salem, Ind., and Thomas J. (Jeanette) Carthy of Belleville, Ill. He was a dear brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, and great-uncle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund or St. Clare's Church Building Fund.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, from Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill., for a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Clare Catholic Church, in O'Fallon, Ill., with Father James Dieters officiating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
