Mona Peach
June 11, 1938 - June 28, 2022
O'Fallon, Illinois - Mona Peach, nee Stogner, age 84, of O'Fallon, Ill., born June 11, 1938 in East St. Louis, Ill., died at home June 28, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mona was active in the parent organizations at her children's schools and then went to work as a sales clerk at Gerardi's Nursery, and later as a housekeeper at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Upon retirement, she became a surrogate grandmother to a number of children for whom she cared. She was also active at St. Clare Church, served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and was a member of the O'Fallon Booster Club.
Having grown up in a large family, the baby of eleven, family ties were vitally important. She was always at the center of organizing and hosting family gatherings, many of which were held at her home. George and Mona were known to be there for their families in good times and bad times. They shared many special times together, from dancing on the Admiral, concerts in the park, Friday night fish fries, to wonderful vacations. She was known to provide many delicious desserts to satisfy the Stogner sweet tooth. Mona was able to enjoy many family gatherings right up to the end including her own recent birthday party.
She married O'Fallon native George J. Peach, the love of her life, on September 26, 1956. They spent almost 65 years devoting their lives to each other.
Being the mother of four kept Mona busy, as she was a supportive and active mother. She spent many fun times with her children from dancing in the living room on Saturdays to cheering them on from the sidelines as their biggest fan. She was always there, loving unconditionally, without hesitation, for anyone in need, giving unselfishly of both her time and resources.
Becoming a Grandma of seven was the happiest time of her life. She was known to refer to it as "the best club in the world, but also the most expensive." She felt pure joy in the moments she spent with all of her grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Her great-grandchildren were icing on the cake!
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George J. Peach; her parents Louis F. and Mary, nee Manion, Stogner; her sisters Mary Lou Stogner, Lessie (Paul) Rongey and Margaret (Elton) Brown; her brothers William (Mary) Stogner, Louis F. Stogner, Donald (Thelma) Stogner, John (Betty) Stogner, Paul (Anne) Stogner, Virgil Stogner, and Robert (Jean) Stogner.
Left to mourn her passing are her children Anthony J. Peach, Janet L. Schuyler, Dawn (Dede Spinnenweber) Peach and Christopher Peach. She was an amazing grandmother to Chalise (Ben) Bondurant, Jordan Schuyler, Erik Schuyler, Julia Peach, Samuel Peach, Austin Peach, Jocelyn Peach; and great-grandmother to Brooklyn Bondurant, Annalise Bondurant, and Elliot Bondurant; sister-in-law Gloria Poston. She is also survived by the large loving Peach family and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she enjoyed spending time with.
