July 12, 1936 - December 7, 2020
Belleville, Illinois - Robert L. Dreyer, 84, of Belleville, IL, born July 12, 1936, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at St. Paul's Senior Community, Belleville, IL.
Mr. Dreyer was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years before his retirement. A graduate of Cathedral High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served his country from 1956 to 1959. He was a former president of the Bunsen Elementary School PTA and served as a precinct Committeeman in Belleville. He was a Khoury League and CYO baseball coach. Bob was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL and was a member of St. Luke's Men's club at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Eleanor O., nee Clark, Dreyer.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Ann, nee Chaput, Dreyer, whom he married on January 28, 1963; his children, Daniel L. Dreyer of Belleville, IL, Amy (John) Thomas of Smithton, IL, Sally (William) Caldwell of Normal, IL, Joel (Melissa) Dreyer of O'Fallon, IL, Jenny (Kenworth) Johnston of Waterloo, IL, and Nancy Dreyer of Belleville, IL; six grandchildren, Nolan (Bailey) Caldwell, Anna Caldwell, Jacob and Brayden Dreyer, and Rory and Carter Johnston; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary (Tom) Budde of Belleville, IL, Ron Chaput of Belleville, IL, and Gene Chaput of Howey in the Hills, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and his lap dog, Pippy.
A special thank you is extended to caregiver Mary Ann Wilson for all the help provided over the last few years.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, or to the Belleville Community Interfaith Food Pantry. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and a limited number of visitors at any one time will be observed.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. David Darin officiating. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and a limited number of visitors at any one time will be observed.
