William Sweeney Obituary

Bill Sweeney, age 79 of Bellingham, WA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born October 26, 1936 in Port Glasgow, Scotland to William and Martha (McIntyre) Sweeney. Bill's work as an engineer led him to live and work many places around the world, including Alaska, New Jersey, New Orleans, California, Texas, South Africa, and Bellingham. Bill's wife and family always accompanied him on his travels. Bill enjoyed golfing, watching soccer and had a love of all music, especially jazz. He was preceded in death by his former wife Martha Sweeney and half sister Marie Lindsay. He is survived by his children William Sweeney (Tha), Stephen Sweeney (June), Allison Harris (Ted), Caroline Chapleau (Guy) and Lynn Sweeney (Bryan), grandchildren Claire, Michelle, Catherine, Stephen, William, Erica, Joseph, Kyle, Nicole, Liam and Rachel, great-grandchildren Nolan and Ryan, sister Bette Oakley (David), half siblings Eric Sweeney (Irene), Ina McKinnon (Ian), Ray Strang and many loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 20th. Committal following at Bayview Cemetery.
