Buchanan Smith
1955-2013 Word has been received that Laurie Jean Buchanan Smith of Acworth, GA, passed away on December 10, 2013, after a long illness in Marietta, GA. Born on July 10, 1955, in Bennington, VT, Laurie was the daughter of the late Donald W. Buchanan, and Doris Buchanan Vail of Marietta, GA, who survives. She attended Mt. Anthony Union High School in the class of 1973. She graduated from Putnam Memorial School of Nursing and has been a practicing LPN in skilled nursing her entire career in the State of Florida. Laurie is survived by two sons, Jeffrey D. Smith of Tampa, FL and Jeremy D. Smith of Daytona Beach, FL; a granddaughter, Adriana R. Smith; three siblings: Scott D. Buchanan (Jean) of Acworth, GA, John D. Buchanan (Ruthann) of Grantham, NH, and Amy B. Squiers (Kevin) of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews, Jenna and David Buchanan, Ashley Buchanan Phillips, and Brett and Bradley Squiers, as well as aunts and uncles and cousins. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Wellstar Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain 475 Dickson Ave. Marietta GA. 30064

My sincere condolences to you all on Laurie's passing to the next level. She was always chosen to write on the black board by the nuns @Sacred Heart due to her impeccable handwriting. I am sad to read about Laurie's passing. It doesn't seem that long ago that she was both a student and a neighbor. My condolences to Doris, Scott and Amy. It is very difficult to lose a family member, particularly one so young. My thoughts are with you.
