Paul Archambault Obituary

Dalton - Paul Emile Archambault, 93, of 36 Hale Street, Dalton, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on November 27, 1923, the son of the late Roland and Marie Paulhus Archambault, and a resident of Dalton since 1939, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1943 graduate of Dalton High School.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Archambault enlisted with the United States Navy on June 17, 1943, served as a Gunner's Mate Third Class, and was honorably discharged on March 11, 1946.

Mr. Archambault was employed by the United States Postal Service in Dalton and served as Superintendent of Postal Operations. He retired in 1982 with 28 years of service. Following his retirement, Paul was employed as a limousine driver for Dery Funeral Homes, he retired from there with 28 years of service, as well. In his earlier years, he had worked for Crescent Creamery, Sunnyside Dairy, and Dalton Heating Company.

Mr. Archambault was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where he served as an usher. He was a life member of the Anthony J. DeAngelus Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Dalton and served five terms as Commander, and was a one time member of the Benjamin F. Sullivan Post #155 American Legion in Dalton. He was also a member of the Dalton Democratic Committee and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He enjoyed hunting and gardening, and was a Celtic, Patriots, and Red Sox fan.

Mr. Archambault leaves his wife, the former Carolyn E. Bowerman, whom he married July 17, 1946, in St. Agnes Church.

He is also survived by two daughters, Linda L. Cowlin of Dalton, and Lisa K. Trachier and her husband, Adam, of Hinsdale; a son, Dr. Paul E. Archambault and his wife, Eileen of Fayetteville, N.C.; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Cowlin, late of Dalton, who died November 10, 2014, his brothers Leonard Archambault and Robert Archambault; and his sister, Elaine Boyd.

The Archambault family would like to thank the staff of Berkshire Medical Center's Emergency Department, 4 West Telemetry and the Critical Care Step Down Unit for all of their support and great care.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Paul E. Archambault will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in DALTON.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Medical Center Cancer Research in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
