With sympathies and prayers for the entire Formel family and for Phillip, as well. I did not know Phillip--but I do know his Son, Stephen, and knowing what an awesome person he is, is certainly a fine reflection on his parents. So sorry for your huge loss, Stephen. You know my heart goes out to you and your family.

Dear Aunt Norma and Cousins,
My thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time. I will always remember Uncle Phil as a kind and patient man. He shared stories at my father's funeral that were new to me,and meant so very much. What an amazing group of siblings.
Warmly.

Dear Aunt Norma and cousins, What a wonderful, moving, poignant and respectful celebration of Uncle Phil's life we all experienced this past week! Well done! He was truly a remarkable, loving and loyal man, and I will always remember him with great love. It was, as always, great to see everyone in your family in spite of the circumstances which drew us together. Love, Rosanne...and Michael, Noah and Celie too.

Dear A. Norma and cousins,
I am so sorry for your loss. I recently came across a photo of U. Phil and A. Norma at my Nursing Graduation. At the time, I appreciated their sharing my day and remember their kindness. Although I was unable to attend his Mass, he will be in my prayers. Fondly, Sharry (Haskins) Zepko

To Norma and all the Formel Family:
As I read & reread (online) Phil's obit.
(much of which I already knew) I began to think that each & everyday of his long life, he wrote his own (key to happiness in Heaven) obit. He was such a Faithfilled man, not ashamed to practice that Faith openly for others to see & imitate. Seeing the beautiful couple at Mass each am, I was touched by the way they lived out the Sacrament of Matrimony, each & every day in St. Ann Curch in Lenox. I remember (vividlly) the morning that I did not have an altar server. After Mass Norma told me that it was a logtime wish of hers (since her sons could serve Mass, but not her girls!) to one day serve at the altar. Since the Deacon was not going to be there the next am, I invited her to join me as my Server. She came to the Sacristy before Mass, helped put things out for Mass, and served! After Mass when we went back to the Sacristy, she jumped in the air, clicked her heels together, and told me that one of her dreams had just been fulfilled! I still tell the girls & new servers that story of the privilege to serve on the altar. Phil & Norma's life are a testimony of Faith in action for all to see. (Her 2nd wish was to be onstage someday! Maybe Broadway, or Tanglewood, I often wonder if she had her 2nd wish granted, or was the 1st enough to to satisfy her?) I know that Phil is now at peace in the hands of the Lord that he served so well. Unfortunately I cannot attend the Wake or Funeral, but I will celebrate a Mass for Phil and the intentions of the family he loved so much. Phil, may you Rest in Peace, until we can all be together someday. With Prayers & Sympathy, Fr. Dan Brunton

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow attendee and the family at this time. Attendees are recognized on the theory "if it's important to some to mention in an obit, then we can spare a few prayers". Perhaps, the time at MC was both formative and important to our comrade. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
