GILDFORD - Dorothy Marie (Blanchard) Cady of Gildford passed away in Billings, Sept. 5, 2012, of natural causes. She was born in Chester, May 16, 1920. After attending Northern Montana College she married Willis Cady, Oct. 16, 1941. Willis preceded her in death Dec. 5, 2005. They lived and farmed on the hi-line all their married life.
Services will be held Monday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. in Hingham at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
Dorothy is survived by four sons, Eugene (Myrna) Cady of Great Falls, Gary (Irene) Cady of Billings, Warren (Dena) Cady of Eagan, Minn., and Charles "Chuck" Cady of Kent, Wash. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and families: Chris (Lisa) Cady and children, Alex, Emily and Abbey of Belgrade, MT; Curt (Katie) Cady and children, Drew, Hunter, Peter and Rylie of Bismark, N.D.; Chad Cady and children, Michael, Samuel and Claire of Billings; Kevin (Jamie) Cady and four girls, Jenna, Lauren, Megan, and Olivia of Missoula; and Letitia Marie Cady (Craig) Marr of Helena.
Dorothy was a kind, gentle, devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as a woman of strong faith. She also worked as Postmaster in Gildford and retired July 31, 1987. She loved her family and community and remained active. She volunteered at the Northern Montana Health Care, enjoyed the Home Demonstration Club, ceramics, stained glass, quilting, crocheting, knitting, singing in the church choir, baking and decorating cakes and her collections. She loved playing cards daily with her community friends. Dorothy and Willis both played sports themselves and of course having four boys made sports a huge part of the Cady household!
A more detailed, cheerful and personal account of her wonderful life and contribution to our world will be read at her service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church of Hingham, or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com.
