Robert Cavan Obituary

Robert H. Cavan, of Billings, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at his home.

Robert was born on Nov. 30, 1928, to John "Jack" and M. Francis Cavan in Jordan. The family relocated to Harlowton when Robert was 12. He graduated from Harlowton High School in 1946. He entered the Marine Corps immediately after graduation. After the service, he went to law school, first at MSU, then at U of M. Shortly before graduation, he started his own trucking company.

He then met Aletha (Parker) and they started their life together in 1955, and were devoted to each other for the next 56 years. His career then began with Dun & Bradstreet Corp. in Billings, and then in 1960, he was promoted and transferred to Minneapolis, where he became a National Accounts Representative. He retired from Dun & Bradstreet in 1984. Robert and Aletha relocated to Billings in 1996, where they resided until his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Aletha of Billings; son Bob (Debra) Cavan of Minneapolis; his daughter, Kim (Russ) Bradley of Garneill. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeff (Jaimie) Bradley of Bismarck, N.D., Paul and Anna Bradley of Garneill (and Butte); and three great-grandchildren, Cole, Katie and Alex.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Mary Henry and her husband Dean, and his brother John. 

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, located at 1001 Alderson Ave., on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m., with interment immediately following in Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park on Grand Avenue.

Memorials may be made to Family Services of Billings, the Ronald McDonald House of Billings or the charity of your choice.
