David Corey Obituary

April 17, 1962 - November 7, 2014 Corey, David Douglass, age 52, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 17, 1962 and passed away on November 7, 2014 after a courageous fight against cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Elizabeth Bentley Corey, and children, Elizabeth Douglass Corey and Robert Rushton Corey; parents Mr. and Mrs. John Norman Corey, Jr.; brothers John Norman Corey, III (Sheri) and Allen Rushton Corey (Kathryn), sister–in–law Katherine Bentley Hawkins; in–laws Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bentley; nieces and nephews, Doug Corey, Cannon Corey, Quinn Corey, Allen Corey, Helen Cumbee Corey and Grace Evelyn Hawkins. He attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta, and he graduated from Lambeth College. He grew up a member of the Cathedral Church of the Advent and later joined St. Luke's Episcopal Church. David was a member of The Redstone Club, The Beaux Arts Krewe and Mountain Brook Club. He served as past President of the Institute of Real Estate Management. Family was most important to David. He enjoyed spending time at the farm, the lake and the beach with friends and family. He loved his dogs, music, Alabama football and visits to Sewanee, the University of the South, to see his children. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Memorial service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 2:00pm Monday, November 10, 2014. Visitation in Graham Hall at 1:00pm. The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the American Cancer Society.
