MINOT - Dorothy M. Swenson, 77, Minot, formerly of Halliday, ND, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Minot Trinity Hospital at the age of 77. Celebration of life will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, June 24, 2022, at 11:00 MST with interment to follow at Our Savior's Cemetery, Halliday ND.

Dorothy Marie Swenson was born on August 5, 1944, a daughter of Alton J. and Hulda (Kiesz) Swenson in Eglin, FL. The family moved to Halliday, ND, where Dorothy attended Collins Country School, south of Halliday. She later attended Job Corps in Grand Forks, ND, and in Minot, ND.

March of 1977, Dorothy entered the Minot Vocational Rehab Program, now known as Kalix. Through the 45 years she learned many skills and worked various positions including the laundry department, helping at the city library, recycling program and washing dishes. She was taken on trips and excursions experiencing a full life. Special friendships were formed with many different people through the years making Minot her home. She was well taken care of and loved by her care takers as she aged, and we are so grateful for the kindness shown to our dear sister.

Dorothy will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends. She had a friendly personality and loved to visit, always being the family greeter at gatherings. She always had a book close by for reading and the Hallmark channel on tv with lots of snacks. Receiving mail and sending cards for birthdays and holidays were her way of staying close to family, she always remembered the special occasions. Dorothy was a member of the Minot Eagles club and the Second Story in Minot; these social outings were so enjoyable. She was a loving sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her three siblings: Charlotte Neurohr, James (Darlene) Swenson, and Julie (Bill) Millard; nieces and nephews: Kelly (Scott) Arntzen, Doug (Carissa) Swenson, Allison Swenson, Dawn (Trent) Martin, Christina (Chan) Opp, Christopher Rowe, McKenzie (Clint) Rowe; great niece and nephews; and many special cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; sister-in-law, Ellen Swenson; and brother-in-law, Daniel H. Neurohr.

"It takes a village." This was a true statement for Dorothy, through the years she was blessed with caring people whose friendships gave her a full life. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
