Edward Kraft Sr., 73, Bismarck, died Aug. 22, 1999, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Corpus Christi, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 3-9 p.m. with a vigil and rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to service time at church on Thursday.
Edward Kraft Sr. was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Linton, the son of Peter and Julia (Dietz) Kraft. He was educated in Strasburg. Edward served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He and Lillian Glass were united in marriage on Nov. 6, 1950, at Bernard's Mission west of Linton. Edward was a craftsman at the Amoco Refinery for 30 years. He retired on Jan. 1, 1986.
Edward orchestrated his own band for 20 years, playing in local clubs and surrounding areas. He played guitar, clarinet and accordian. He also loved to fish. He was a member of the Moose, V.F.W., American Legion, Musicians Union and the OCAW Union.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; five daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Randy Kiefer, Bismarck, Eileen and Greg Bavendick, Bismarck, Lory and Russ Nelson, Bismarck, Marci and Ron Schorsch, Bismarck, and Colleen and Vic Fortino, Barlett, Ill.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Jr. and Donna Kraft, Dickinson, Gary and Lahna Kraft, Arvada, Colo., and Joe and Brandi Kraft, Layton, Utah; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Mike and Margaret Kraft, Bismarck, Leonard and Marlene Kraft, Bismarck, and Theresa Kraft, Strasburg; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie and Victor Volk, Crystal, Minn., Mary Glass, Minneapolis, Minn., and Peter Meier, Anoka, Minn.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and three brothers.
