BEULAH - Joseph Pulver, 86, Beulah, died Nov. 11, 2014, at Sanford Health Care Center, Mandan. Services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Saturday, Nov. 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. CST Friday at the church with a vigil at 7 p.m. CST.
Joseph James Pulver was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Zap, to Samuel and Lenora (Moravitz) Pulver. He was raised and attended school in Zap, graduating in 1946. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in Oregon for a few months, before returning to Beulah. He went to work for Montana Dakota Utilities at the Beulah Generating Plant in 1948 as a coal and ash handler. He was continuously employed except for two years when he served for the Army as an engineer in Korea. In 1958, he was transferred to the Lewis and Clark Station in Sidney, Mont.
On Aug. 8, 1959, Joe married Celestine "Sally" Hager at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck. He became plant superintendent in Sidney in 1977. While in Sidney, two children were born, James Joseph and Jocelyn Marie. They made their home there until moving back to Beulah in 1979, when Joe was transferred to Coyote Station in Beulah as a maintenance supervisor. He became the station manager in 1983. He held this position until retiring in April 1991.
After retiring, Joe spent his free time golfing, hunting and woodworking. His family is blessed with many pieces of furniture to treasure.
Joe is survived by his children, Jim (Faith) Pulver, Beulah, and Jocelyn (Mark) Wax, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Jory Pulver and Jacey (Josh) Schank, all of Beulah, and Mikaila Wax and Derek Wax, both of Bismarck; his sisters-in-law, Violet Pulver, Mandan, Jean McKenney, Bismarck, and Freda Hager, Fargo; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, who passed away on June 4, 2014; a granddaughter, Hanna Rose Wax; and siblings, Florence, Samuel, Francis, Louis "Curly," twins, Leonard "Bud" and Lenora "Sis" and Amelia "Tiny". (Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen)
