Royann Bement
BISMARCK - The family of Royann Bement announces the passing of our dear mother. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Sanford Hospital.
She was the daughter of Roy and Mabel Small, born on July 31, 1928, raised on the Small homestead, south of Bismarck, ND.
Royann and Bill were married on July 9, 1947. They moved to Solen, ND to start their ranch life and raise their family of seven. Royann has 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Her family was an extension of her love, which was evident by how much she was adored and cherished by all.
She was a teacher in a country school, proctored military testing for the federal government, and shepherded her Sunday school children. Her true passion was her family; she lived her dream of raising a family on a beautiful North Dakota ranch.
Royann was outgoing, patriotic, spiritual, and inquisitive. She loved learning about history, enjoyed family ancestry, studied and experienced many of the Native American traditions. She enjoyed art, crafts, singing, drawing, cooking, and gardening. It was a joy listening to her sing and play the guitar.
She is survived by Bonnie Bement (Blaine Burdick), Lottie Turman (Mike), Cindy Bement, Debbie Bement, Kelly Bement (Trudy), Jayne Miller (Ron), Jill Marshall (Chuck), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband William C. Bement, and sons William (Billy) Bement and Casey Bement.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 27, at Corpus Christi Church, 1919 N 2nd St, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, Sunday, March 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Pkwy, Bismarck. A rosary/vigil and a time of sharing will begin at 2:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
A private family burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to University of Mary, Roy and Mable Small Scholarship.
