Boonville - Alberta Lea Denomme passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at her home in Boonville, Missouri. Born in Columbus, Kansas to the late Lena and Lloyd Akers on November 19, 1936, she was a graduate of Cherokee County High School in Columbus, Kansas. She was married to Jerome Arthur "Jerry" Denomme for 29 years, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children, Mark (Susannah) Denomme (Lexington, Ky.), Michael (Suzanne) Denomme, (Boonville, Mo.), Matt Denomme (Kansas), Deanna (Michael, deceased) McCown (Lexington, Ky.) and Debra (Jay) Lucas (Versailles, Ky.); as well as two sisters, Opal (Ted, deceased) Atkinson, Littleton, Colorado, and Rachel (D.O.) Clingenpeel, Mims, Florida. She also leaves to mourn her 10 grandchildren: Carolyn Egelman and Robert Denomme, Brian, Brett, Brad, Brock and Taylor Denomme, Kyla McCown, Alyssa and Ashley Lucas, and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her brother, Herbert (Kay) Akers and a sister, Virginia (Dale, deceased) Johnson.
Alberta raised her five children in Boonville and was engaged in their activities attending and driving to countless sporting events, swimming pools and school performances. She was skilled in the kitchen, canning garden vegetables and preserves and preparing meals for a large family which inspired a lifelong interest in recipes and preparation tips.
With Alberta's interest in the clothing trade she acquired the iconic Mode O'Day women's apparel store in downtown Boonville. She also worked at Medical Arts Pharmacy and the Selck Realty and Insurance Co. She was active in local garden clubs and Cooper County Republican Party activities.
After her husband's death Alberta returned to Columbus, Kansas to be near her mother. She returned to Boonville following her mother's death. Alberta was an avid news consumer and reader always knowledgeable in current events. She was adept with social media and active once again with her family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren delighting in their activities and pictures.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 14 at 10:00 am at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Boonville. Alberta's beloved grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
