ADELL RUTH RAWSON

ADELL RAWSON Obituary

RAWSON, Adell Ruth Rawson, Adell Ruth (Cherney), of Falmouth, MA, passed away February 5, at 100. The daughter of William & Mary Cherney (Mover), she grew up in Brookline and Newton. Adell is survived by her son, Steven (& Cheryl); daughter-in-law Kaleta; son-in-law Ralph; stepchildren, Samuel, Carol, and Gia; grandchildren, Ellen & Fred, Aaron & Jenny, Stephanie, MaryBeth, Alexa & Matthew, Bryce & Jenn, Ellissa, Samuel, Nathanuel, and Evan; and seven great-grandchildren. Adell was preceded in death by husbands, William R. Rawson and Samuel Abbott, Jr.; daughter Lynn Vanderpoel; and son William C. Rawson. Adell had a genuine and open-heart, her circle of friends and family continued to grow throughout her life. Her enthusiasm and engagement in the world, and firm belief that a bowl of ice cream with hot fudge was part of a life well-lived stand as an example to us all on how best to live a century.

I was saddened to hear of her passing, but so glad I had a chance to get to know her. I knew her as a librarian at her beloved Falmouth Public library-she came to many of our programs. But I knew her best as a participating and delightful member of the fiction book club that I led! My condolences to her family and friends.
