ANTHONY WILLIAM BASIL "TONY" BLACKETT

1942 - 2023

BLACKETT, Anthony William Basil "Tony" Formerly of Somerville, died peacefully on June 12, 2023, with his family by his side. He leaves his loving daughter, Sidonie Blackett Grieco and her husband, Anthony; beloved grandchildren, Will and Summer Weidman; good friend, Juliet Blackett; and devoted sister, Judith Roose. Tony was born in South Africa on November 26, 1942. He was raised in London, and earned a diploma at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. He began his career in urban planning and development with the Greater London Council, The Design Partnership of Singapore, and the Boston Redevelopment Authority. In 1980, he set up a private consulting practice specializing in campus planning and higher educational programming. Among many U.S. and overseas institutions, he developed master plans for Northeastern, Tufts, Bowdoin College, BMCC of New York, UNH, and Singapore Management University. After retiring, Tony settled into the beauty of rural Vermont and pursued a lifelong interest in quantum physics and the philosophy of science.
