ANTHONY PALLOTTA Obituary

PALLOTTA, Anthony "Tony" A resident of Malden, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at age 86. Tony was a construction worker by vocation, but in reality, he was a true renaissance man; an inventor, adventurer, builder, entrepreneur, explorer, a folk artist and humanitarian. Tony was born in Malden on July 31, 1935, one of three children of the late Antonio and Nunziatta (DiTucci) Pallotta. He was raised in Malden, attended Malden Public Schools, and graduated from Storm King School in Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. After graduating, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving two years before joining the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #4. Tony loved his work as an operating engineer and member of Local #4 for over 50 years, and loved all of his union friends. For 15 years, Tony devoted himself tirelessly to individuals with intellectual disabilities by volunteering at the nonprofit, Triangle, Inc. in Malden. At the age of 65 he rode his bicycle over 500 miles across Montana and over the Continental Divide, raising thousands of dollars for AIDS vaccine research. Even in battling his illness, he was a role model, the first patient in an experimental treatment at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York that led to a grant that opened the treatment up to 50 more people. Tony was the beloved husband of Patricia (Puleo) Pallotta, whom he met in second grade at the Emerson School in Malden and with whom he shared nearly 65 years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Daniel Pallotta and husband, James Smith of Topsfield, Nancy Jones of Lynnfield, Susan Currie and her husband, David of W. Palm Beach, FL, and Anthony Pallotta and his wife, Tracy of Aurora, CO. He was the most amazing grandfather to Christopher Jones and his wife, Emily, Jessica Keefe and her husband, Joseph, Hannah and Max Currie, Allie and Ashlyn Pallotta, and Annalisa, Sage, and Rider Smith-Pallotta. He was a dear brother to Madeline Civitareale and Sylvia Curley. Services to honor Tony's life were held privately. Donations may be made to Triangle, Inc. in Malden.
