Gladys Hurley Obituary

Took her final journey on August 17, 2008, following a long illness. Born July 24, 1926 in Ridgeway, South Carolina, lived most of her adult life in Boston, except 10 years in Tacoma, WA 1989-1999. A selfless, loving, caring pragmatist and informal life coach, she offered sound advice to all who asked. A single working mother, active in the community. She worked at Harvard University, N.E. Telephone and Bank of Boston. Celebrating her life are four children: Leslie, NJ; Millard, Paris, France; Linda Hurley Ishem (Dwight), WA and Gerard (Iris DuPont); three grandchildren: Amber Wilmore-Hurley (mother Roberta Wilmore), Siri DuPont-Hurley and Ellis Ishem; two brothers Roland (Bob) Murphy, Texas and Benjamin Murphy, California; two sisters Mildred Claytor, Brockton, MA and Charlye Johnson (Jay) Las Vegas; sister-in-law Phyllis Hurley Davis, FL and companion Gustav Nichols, Framingham, MA.
