Graves Desha Hewitt

Of South Natick. Loving husband of Gail Downing Hewitt; devoted father of two daughters and their spouses: Laura Hewitt Riley and C. Madison Riley III of Wellesley, and Susan Desha Stahl and Michael Stahl of Chicago; beloved grandfather of C. Madison Riley IV, Peter Graves Riley, Sarah Alden Riley, and Hannah Morgen Smith. Mr. Hewitt is also survived by his brother, Colby, of Marshfield, MA. Mr. Hewitt's first love was his family, from whom he derived endless joy. He was a leading insurance executive, having been Chairman and CEO of the Cameron and Colby Companies (later of the Hartford Insurance Group), including First State Insurance Company and New England Reinsurance Company, and most recently was CEO of HM Consulting Group. He taught Sunday School for 18 years at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Wellesley, in addition to serving as First Reader and Board member. At the time of his passing he was Chairman of the Board at Longyear Museum in Chestnut Hill. Services will be private.
