Helen Canty Obituary

In Exeter, NH, 96, formerly of Amesbury, passed away peacefully Monday, at the Sunbridge Care and Rehab. in Exeter. Born in Boston, on March 11, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Lux) Mahoney. She was the wife of the late Leonard Canty who passed away in 1986. In her younger years, she had worked as a stenographer for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Boston, but for many years after, was employed as a secretary for the Attorney General's Office in Boston. She is survived by one son, Leonard Canty Jr. of Plymouth, NH, two daughters, Patricia Horvath of Portsmouth, NH and Andrea Shine-Canty of Stratham, NH, 14 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Phillip Canty, Sister of the late Kathleen Hennesey and Louise Kernan, and grandmother of the late Patrick McDonald. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 19 at 10:00am in Holy Family Parish's Sacred Heart Church, 67 Friend St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St. in AMESBURY are Thursday, August 18 from 3-6 pm.
