JOHN HUGHES Obituary

HUGHES, John J. 82, of Cotuit, passed away peacefully at the Cape Cod Hospital on November 15, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucy (Donovan) Hughes and the son of the late John and Mildred Hughes. John graduated from Brighton High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later spent ten years at Otis Air Force Base with the 962nd AEW Squadron as an ACW Tech. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967. John was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and loved traveling. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. John is survived by his grandson John J. Hughes II and wife Anna and his great grandson Angelo Joseph Hughes all of Chestnut Hill. He is also survived by his brother Daniel Hughes and wife Rita of Cotuit, Sister Patricia Cedrone and husband Robert of Brighton, sister in-law Mary P. Hughes of Brockton and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son John J. Hughes Jr., granddaughter Andrea, and his brothers Robert J. and Paul G. Hughes. John's graveside services were held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday, November 19, 2012. Donations may be sent in memory of John to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1275 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury,MA02132.
