RICHARD FENNESSY Obituary

FENNESSY, Richard J. "Rick" Of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. He was surrounded by family and friends throughout his battle and at the time of his passing. Rick's loyalty to others was rewarded by the gift of extraordinary friendships, which showed their might in the unfailing presence and support throughout his final journey. Especially the love and support from the McGovern family. Rick was born and raised in South Boston, the son of the late James D. Fennessy. Dear brother of the late Patricia (Fennessy) Marino. Left to mourn is the wife he adored, Cathy M. (Fahey) and his three cherished sons, Liam Fennessy, his wife Kerri of Randolph, R.J. Fennessy and Jonathan Fennessy, both of Quincy. Loving grandfather of Keara, Avery, and Joe. In-law to George and Mary (Fahey) Moore of Brockton, Sean Fahey and Ruthann Colby of Randolph, Leo Fahey and Diane MacArthur of Falmouth. "The Uncle" to Kathryn E. Moore, Holly Fahey, Joy Fahey, Justin Downey, Ryan Fahey, Patrick Fahey and Brendan Fahey. The great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Rick was also survived by his sister Joanne Sullivan of South Boston and his brothers James and Robert Fennessy of Quincy along with many nieces and nephews. He was a lifetime member of The Pipefitters Local 537, where he achieved the level of master pipefitter. Rick was also a proud "L" Street Brownie and a member of The Quincy Lodge of Elks. Visiting hours in The O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, on Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass in Saint Augustine's Cemetery Chapel, 181 Dorchester Street, South Boston, on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery. Cathy, Liam, RJ & Jonathan,
Ricky was truly one of the nicest guys I know, I never saw him without a smile on his face. It's weird to think I started out babysitting for Liam & RJ and became such good friends with you all. I will always cherish my times with Ricky and remember him as the great man he was. Rest in peace Ricky, until we meet again....
Love,
Ellen

Ricky

You were a great friend to everyone who knows you. We will all miss you so much! We will always remember how funny you were. I am happy that you are in no more pain and no more suffering. We will never forget you. Even though I don't remember seeing you around I hear my grandparents (Janet & Tom) tell me great things about you. Rest in peace.
