Richard WHITE Obituary
Dick was born and raised in Dorchester, son of the late Woodrow F. and Elizabeth "Betty" White (Wright). He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and his Master's degree from Anna Maria College. He was a Bourne Police officer, and then went on to become a Massachusetts State Trooper. He retired as a sergeant after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Bourne Recreation Committee for years, volunteered for Bourne Youth Baseball, Bourne High School Hockey Boards and Blades booster club, and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce Scallop Festival. He also helped with various charity golf tournaments and Toys for Tots each year. He will always be remembered for doing what he could to help anyone. However, he most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Dick will be greatly missed by his wife, Jean L. White (Philbrick); son Timothy White and his wife, Rebecca of Mattapoisett; and daughter Kim Colella and her husband Michael of Sagamore Beach. He was the proud grandfather of Carly Colella, Fiona and Woodrow White. He is also survived by his brothers, Rev. David White of Boston and Paul White of Sandwich.
Visitation Hours will be on Thursday, August 31st, from 4:00-8:00 pm at St. Margaret's Church in Bourne. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 1st, at 10:00 am at St. Margaret's, followed by a Burial at Sandwich Town Cemetery, Sandwich MA. Arrangements by the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., BOURNE, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The American Cancer Society.

Many of my happy memories as a younger man are attached to Dick. Our time together at Northeastern University and on the Bourne PD were some of the best times in my life. A great guy with a great sense of humor, and he will be sorely missed by both family and friends.

Graduated from CM and started in class A7 with Richard and we both ended up at Northeastern. Remember him fondly at both places. He told me to call him Professor when I would see him on campus. My condolences to his family.

Dear Jean and Family,
Very sorry for your loss! Many happy memories of Dick during this most difficult time. So glad I got to know him over these past years! He certainly had a great sense of humor and and made us laugh! I am going to miss our times together at "Tea Time", our good conversation and those famous Christmas Cards :) Dick with always hold a special place in our hearts! RIP my friend!

My condolences to the family of Richard White. As a classmate of Dick in the 59th RT( Recruit Training Troop ) in November 1974 at the Sate Police Academy in Framingham.
It didn't take long before the Drill Instructors ordained Dick the "King", which of course was demeaning due to his size.
But Dick carried on showing that he was truly a "King"
who could handle adversity by sharing his great sense of humor with leadership qualities.

I met Dick in the early 80´s at Shawme Crowell State Forest. When he was working evening shift he use to come in and patrol the camping area. Afterwards he´d always stop by the contact station to say hi and talk with everybody. He was well liked by everyone. Great guy.
