ROBERT G. HANSON

1935 - 2022

HANSON, Robert G. 1st Lt. U. S. Army Airborne Ranger Robert G. Hanson, aka Bob or Swede, passed away after a lengthy illness in Palm Coast, Florida. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, the first child of Harold W. Hanson and Iris Stiles Hanson, of Lynnfield, Massachusetts who predeceased him. Bob had a love of the military, flying and photography. He and his wife Susan, who predeceased him, traveled around the world taking photographs. He was an accomplished pilot with numerous ratings, as well as an exceptional athlete. Bob graduated from Wakefield High School, class of 1954 and then went on to the United States Military Academy at West Point for two years before leaving for medical reasons. After graduating from Officer Candidate School where he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant as well as an Airborne Ranger, he then went on to serve in Korea. Bob leaves two brothers, Ron Hanson of Jefferson, NH, Rick Hanson of Hollis, NH; and a sister, Charlene Cole of Salem, NH. In addition to his siblings, Bob leaves two children, Robert O'Brien and Cheryl Cooper as well as two stepchildren, Brad Hallak and Steve Hallak of Kansas City, KS. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lohman Funeral Home, PALM COAST, FL. Burial will be in the Cape Canaveral Veterans Cemetery. There will be no calling hours per Bob's request.
