Hello Lucinda,
I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I just learned of it this morning from Edwina England, my mother. I sailed with Bob twice when he was helping my father bring the Copas up the Inland Waterway. He was great and we had some interesting conversations. He was most famous on the boat for the fantastic seafood stew he prepared for us while we were in Norfolk, VA. I will remember him fondly.

My brothers, Steven and Warren, and I share the sentiments of other former Runkle School students in remembering Mr. Stern and what a wonderful, motivating teacher he was. Our condolences to the family.

Lucinda, I just learned of his passing and feel considerable sorrow that I didn't make a better effort to stay in touch with him.
We last exchanged emails back in April and talked about getting together at the MFA. Ironically, it was only this week that I planned to call him to talk about visiting when I discovered the bad new online. I will always remember the years he and I played bridge together with the fondest of memories.
I can't begin to tell you how badly I feel, please accept my condolences.

So very sorry to hear of your loss. I am another student from Runkle school. I remember Mr.s Stern's smile and good nature as much as his teaching. I was a young musician at the time and will never forget when Mr. Stern invited me to play for him after school one day. I so remember how encouraging he was. I played a piece by Mozart aka the "ss pierce song." I remember it and his kindness as if it were yesterday.

I just read with great sadness of your loss. Mr Stern was my science teacher at Runkle for 7th and 8th grade, he made science fun. He is one of the reasons I chose to work in a science field.

I just read the sad news. I was a student of Mr. Stern's for 7th and 8th grade, at the John D. Runkle School. I have great memories of him... and I loved science because of him! My condolences for your loss.

Lucinda,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a nice guy, always with a smile on his face. He is in peace now and not suffering. You are in my thoughts through this very painful time. Bob, we will miss seeing you at LCC.
