WILIAM ENGLISH Obituary

ENGLISH, Rev. Wiliam J. He was a longtime, dedicated and beloved Boston priest of 61 years. Formerly of more recent years of South Boston, Waltham and Quincy, who died at the home of his longtime friends and caregiver family, the DiPerri's of South Boston on October 27, 2021. A native of Burncourt, County Tipperary, Ireland, Fr. English was a son of the late Richard and Mary (Fitzgerald) English. He was raised by faith-filled and hardworking parents who raised their children to be faithful Catholics, with a strong sense of values. His priestly assignments included Blessed Sacrament, Jamaica Plain; Saint Brigid, South Boston; Precious Blood, Hyde Park; twenty years as pastor of Holy Trinity, Quincy and Senior Priest, Our Lady's, Waltham where he resided during eleven years of a lengthy illness. He was a brother of Sister Kathleen of England, Michael of Limerick, Brother Richard (Patrick) of Waterford, Richard of Tipperary, Marie Quinn of Vermont, Sean of Tipperary and the late Thomas, Peter and Sister Joseph (Betty) and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves the DiPerri family of South Boston. Two wakes will be held for Father English; the first on Saturday, October 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham and the second will be held on Sunday, October 31st from 3 to 5 p.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1015 Sea Street, Quincy. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday in Most Blessed Sacrament Church and Burial will follow in Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Fr. English's Funeral Mass will be livestreamed at www.holytrinityquincy.com with a link to www.facebook.com/holytrinity.com. Father English was a great man.I was proud to be an altar server at Blessed Sacrament in J.P. I will never forget how kind he and the other priests were to everyone in our wonderful parish. I'm sure Father is resting in God's embrace.

Fr. Bill always mentioned his many blessings in life, which included the DiPerri family who were so good to him...

Who didn't love Father English ? What a wonderful man. A true priest dedicated to his parishioners. We met Father when he was at St. Brigid's in South Boston. Much love to his family and the DiPerri family.May he rest in peace. Karen and Larry and the McEachern family
