Hallett Glenwood Hullinger

Hallett Glenwood Hullinger, beloved husband, father, and pastor of 2104 Avalon Dr. Bedford, MA 01730, died at home on December 8, 2008. He was born in Bradenton, Florida on April 26, 1920. He graduated from Bradenton High School in Manatee Country, FL in 1936; the University of Florida; the U.S. Naval Reserve Officers Training School at Northwestern University, Evanston, ILL. He served aboard ship as naval officer in the Caribbean and Pa-cific areas during WW II, being released to inactive duty status as First Lt. USNR. From 1945 to 1954 he was active as a residential builder and developer in the Bradenton, Florida area. Later, from 1954 to 1957, he attended and graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. He served as student pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton, Ga and of the Tattanall Square Presbyterian Church in Savannah, Ga. He was or-dained a minister of the Presbyterian Church, U.S. by the Presbytery of Central Mississippi in 1957 and held pastorates in Belzoni and Natchez, Mississippi. He served in the Rotary Club, as president of the PTA and was active in Scouting activities. After moving to Virginia he served as pastor at Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church in Pulaski County for many years, retiring in 1983. After retiring, he continued to serve as supply pastor at Rural Re-treat Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallett G. Hullinger, Sr. and Carrie Hullinger of Bradenton, Florida and a brother, Paul Merton Hullinger. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Hull Hullinger, one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and George Planansky of Lexington, Mass, one son and daughter-in-law, Hallett G Hullinger III and Nancy Hullinger and four grand-daughters, Maria Planansky, Elizabeth Hullinger Hendrix and Anne and Abigail Hullinger. A memorial service was held at Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church at 2:00pm on December 22, 2008, with the Rev. Preston Sartelle officiating. Inter-ment was at Draper's Val-ley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg, Virginia.
