Nadine Byrne Mayer gave her last curtain call on April 28, 2018 surrounded by her children. Born in Richmond, Virginia to William C. and Alice (Farrar) Byrne, she attended boarding schools in the East and was graduated from Staples High School, Westport CT and Southern Seminary College. A promising ballet dancer until sidelined by an accident, she danced with the New York City Ballet under George Balanchine in her teens and was recruited by famed impresario Sol Hurok, credited with popularizing ballet in the U.S., to guide visiting Russian dancers around New York. After raising her family in Connecticut, she relocated to the Gulf Coast of Florida to further her career as a speech writer for various Floridian politicians. Her passions included ATP Tennis, politics and community theater. She was a volunteer for AIDS Hospice and Ringling Museum of Art. An original resident of Perico Bay Club, she enjoyed living there for thirty years. Nadine is survived by her children, Hope (Lawrence) Padalino of Morro Bay, CA, D. Callaghan Mayer of St. Petersburg, FL, Michael (Katie) Mayer of Bethlehem, CT and surrogate daughter, Page (Ron) Schaschwary of Chrystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Margaret Mayer, Harry Mayer, Ross Padalino and Scott Padalino and her beloved dog, Scupper.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S Harbor Dr., Holmes Beach, FL.
