Wanda Modzelewski Obituary
Wanda Modzelewski, 97, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The daughter of the late Julian and Stasia (Bazyli) Chojnowski and beloved wife of the late Remigiusz Modzelewski. Wanda came from Poland to New Britain over 55 years ago and was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Wanda was a fabulous cook and loved spending time with her family and friends. She also worked at the Elm Theater for many years.
A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Vicky and Wieslaw Karolczyk of New Britain; her son, Jessie and Patricia Modzelewski of East Lyme, her six grandchildren, Paul Karolczyk, Jennifer Moskovitz (J), Steven Modzelewski (Grace), Charles Modzelewski, Samuel Modzelewski and Angela Modzelewski, and five great grandchildren. Wanda was predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters.
Donations in Memory of Wanda, can be made to Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain, CT 06053 Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 15,2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St, New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Wanda was my sister. We both lived in Poland. I was raised by my aunt in a different place a small city she was in a village. I loved her dearly because she and my other sister always came on market days to come see me. I always looked forward to her visits, I thought that they were the only family I had. She was the nicest kindest sister you could have. She is the only one that has lived the longest in our family and I am so glad, she worked hard and deserved it.
