I thought that surely I would see aunt Lita gain on my next trip to Brownsville, but looks like my mother, Mary Jo Noriega Zanders, and father Jerry will be welcoming her home this time instead.
She was a childhood role model for the educated professional women I and my sisters Francine and Karla (Karlita) became.
She and her mother are lifelong, close family friends that spanned generations as I know her efforts to support education and community development will do. This kind of friendship is rare today.
She was a friend and "family of choice" over the years and distances that picked up wherever
we left off and aunt Lita will remain in our conversations and memories as ever.
I was always so grateful to Ana who has been so conscientious and respectful in the loving care which she so deserved and to her family who stepped in to help when the time came.
We are better people for having known this great lady.
