Susan Calkins Smith
The beautiful and forever young at heart Susan Calkins Smith, 63, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2021 at her home in St. Augustine. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Willard Charles Calkins, Jr. and Frances Parish Calkins. She had lived in St. Augustine for the past six months, splitting time between residences in Florida and the Smoky Mountains in Waynesville, North Carolina. With Stephen, Susan built their home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and took meticulous care of the home and gardens while raising her two daughters. Later, Stephen and Susan spent 10 memorable years enjoying their winter home in the Florida Keys. A lover of nature, she was her happiest when outdoors, enjoying walking, gardening, birds and wildlife. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, vibrant personality, and infectious joy for life. She had a gift for befriending and accepting everyone. She will be greatly missed and loved forever by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Friday April 16, 2021 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Herzog officiating.
A visitation, beginning at 10:00 a.m. will precede the services.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Stephen Smith; two daughters, Juliet Abruzzese, Madeline Smith Kelly; one sister, Anne Tuthill; two grandchildren, Jack and Grace, and her beloved Bengal cats, Rocky and Tiki. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Lee Hutt.
