TRANKLE - John F., Jr. July 17, 2019; age 95. Beloved husband of 70 years to Josephine L. (nee Leicht) Trankle; devoted father of Judith (Herbert) Schneegass, John III, James (Julie), Joseph (Joan) and Jerome (Deborah) Trankle; loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; dear brother of Helen Palumbo, Geraldine D'Angelo, Bernard (Mary Ann) Trankle and the late Margaret Leary; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 911 Englewood Ave. on Friday, July 19th from 3:00-7:00 PM. Where Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20th at 9:00 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church (263 Claremont Ave.), at 9:30 AM. John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was very active in the church as a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 3076, and was instrumental in helping establish the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Club baseball program. He was also a member of the Bell Ski Club and active in the German-American Federation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WNY Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
