Of North Tonawanda, February 28, 2022, age 90. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Thomson) Swanson and the late Bonnie Swanson; loving father of Shelley (Richard Southers) Gromlovits, Rhonda (Peter) Valente, Maureen Brennan, Dianne (Mike) Denbrock, Douglas (Kara) Swanson, late Denise Swanson, Elizabeth (Gregory Sander) Primeau, Marcia (Eric) Getman, Warren (Teresa Silva) Primeau and Luanne Rotunno; devoted grandfather of David, Richard, Elizabeth, Brian, Jeffrey, Matthew, Pamela, Chance, Lily, Kyle, Dylan, Natalie and Eric; great-grandfather of 10. Brother of Janet Swanson, Walter "Butch" Swanson and the late Ernest "Sonny" Swanson; also survived by nieces and nephews. Mr. Swanson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he retired from the North Tonawanda Water Department. Richard was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Tonawanda, member of the American Legion, was an avid golfer and Red Sox fan but most of all was devoted to his faith and family. Visitation in the WATTENGEL FUNERAL HOME, 533 Meadow Dr., North Tonawanda, Thursday, March 3rd, 7-9 PM and Friday, March 4th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services Saturday, March 5th, at 11 AM, from the First United Methodist Church, 65 Main St., North Tonawanda. Entombment Acacia Park Cemetery.
