THOMAS BISSONETTE Obituary

THOMAS E. BISSONETTE GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Thomas E. Bissonette, 67, of Glens Falls, N.Y. passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 while in the Glens Falls Hospital. He was born on Sept. 18, 1943 in Burlington, the son of the late Ralph J. and Dolores (Sullivan) Bissonette. Tom received his early education at Cathedral Grammar School in Burlington and attended Rice Memorial High School, graduating in 1962. After graduation, Tom worked as a general contractor and then started a career at Carroll's Restaurant. He worked at the restaurant for several years, becoming part of the management team, which eventually led to his relocation to Glens Falls N.Y. In 1975 he, along with his partner, started Thomases Painting, serving customers in the Glens Falls, N.Y. and surrounding areas with painting and papering services. One of Tom's joys in life was developing long lasting friendships with his customers. Tom enjoyed life and particularly delighted in spending time with family and friends. He always relished a good political debate, conceding only when one agreed with his liberal viewpoints. He enjoyed summer days spent at the Saratoga Race Track and trips to Florida and the Maine Coast. In recent months, Tom appreciated quiet days spent on his front porch with his constant companion, his dog Armstrong. His quick wit, sense of humor, contagious laugh and sly smile will not be forgotten. His love and support is something his family will greatly miss. Tom is survived by his life-partner of 39 years, Thomas Ryan on Glens Falls, N.Y.; his four brothers, Joseph Bissonette and his wife, Susan, of Orlando, Fla., Ralph (Tinker) Bissonette of Burlington, William (Guy) Bissonette, also of Burlington, and Timothy Bissonette and his wife, Donna, of Barre. He is also survived by three sisters, Sandra Bissonette of Burlington, Margaret Bissonette of South Burlington, and Kathleen Chernoff and her husband, Robert, of Perkasie, Pa. Tom also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a date and time to be announced. Tom's arrangements are being handled by Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, N.Y. Donations in Tom's memory are suggested to a charity of one's choice.
