Dwight Hesselgesser
Dwight W. Hesselgesser, 83, of Browntown Road, Slippery Rock, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday at United Community Hospital, Grove City.
Born in Butler, Feb. 26, 1922, he was the son of Charles W. and Auda Floss Johnston Hesselgesser.
He was a 1940 alumnus of Slippery Rock High School and retired in 1980 as a welder at Pullman Standard. He and his brother formerly owned Hesselgesser Brothers Tractor Sales & Service, Harrisville. He also drove bus for Snyder's of Slippery Rock.
Mr. Hesselgesser was a Protestant.
During World War II, he was a sergeant in the Army. He then was a sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Harrisville American Legion Post 852.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara L. Hesselgesser of Slippery Rock; two sons, Richard D. Hesselgesser of Nixa, Mo., and Thomas W. Hesselgesser of Harrisville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by five sisters, Edna Henry of Grove City, Ethel Dollman of Harrisville, Ila Margaret of Volant, Jean Kuhn of Meadville and Mrs. Glenn (Ruth) Cooper of Slippery Rock; and brother, Robert D. Hesselgesser of Slippery Rock.
His wife, Marion L. Graham Hesselgesser, whom he married May 13, 1943, died June 6, 1994. A son and a brother also preceded him in death.
HESSELGESSER - Friends of Dwight W. Hesselgesser, who died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev David Ealy, pastor of Forestville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620.
