Don Farris Obituary

FARRIS Don F. Farris, 83, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness of Celiac disease. He was born March 13, 1926 in Whitt, Texas to C. N. and Elsie Johnson Farris. Mr. Farris was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and retired from Gentry Plumbing after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Riverside where he taught Bible classes and had been active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Norman Farris; and his sister, Barbara Easter. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances; his daughter, Donna Kay Young of Alaska; his sons, Larry Wayne (Karon) Farris of Pleasanton, Texas and Keith (Danette) Farris of Round Rock, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2009 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Roger Elam, Richard Hill, Don Anderson, Jeff Elam, Clint Williamson and Carl Grizzell. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Sunny Glen Children's Home, P. O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas 78586.
