Jose O. PerezSan Diego , TXJose Oscar 'Choca' Perez, 84, a lifetime resident of San Diego, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 after a sudden illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was stationed in Japan. He retired from Lone Star Beer Distributing Co. after over 40 years of employment and he was also a ranch hand for Baldemar Gutierrez at Las Animas Ranch. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Lakers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising gamefowl and outdoor life. Choca was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Higinio and Maria Perez; one sister, Elena Solis and one brother, Leopoldo Perez Sr. Jose is survived by his wife of 55 years of marriage, Herminia 'Minnie' Perez of San Diego, Texas; two sons, Jose Oscar 'JoJo' (Celina) Perez, Jr. of Alice, Texas; Michael E. Perez of San Diego, Texas; one daughter, Vilma (Leo) Ibarra of San Diego, Texas; one sister, Consuelo Balli and one brother, Rodolfo S. (Sylvia) Perez both of San Diego, Texas; five grandchildren, Jose Adrian Trevino, Cesar Rolando Trevino, Laura Ysela Trevino, Jovon Odette Perez, Jose Oscar Perez III; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas. Anyone wishing to leave condolences for the family may do so at www.garzafuneralhome.com
