Juan M. Alvarez, age 68, passed away on November 30, 2017.
He was lovingly known as Johnny to family and friends. He was born on July 21, 1949 to Antonio V. and Maria G. Alvarez. Juan graduated from W.B. Ray High School and Corpus Christi State University. He was a retired teacher from Corpus Christi ISD and taught math at Martin Middle School. He will always be remembered for his inner strength and the ability to overcome any physical challenge he faced. He was an avid sports fan. With his favorite teams being the Houston Astros, the Houston Texans, and the University of Texas Longhorns Along with his late mother and sister, Juan is a member of the Moody High School Baseball Hall of Fame Community Member. He was a loving brother who will be dearly missed. Juan is preceded in death by his parents.
Juan is survived by his sister Mary Carmen Alvarez; his aunt Ramona Newman and numerous cousins.
Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
