After many years of suffering from Alzheimer's, Sue Nelson Walden died November 6, 2006, at age 85. She was born June 22, 1921 to a Texas pioneer family, parents Frank Nelson and Martha (Mattie) Caldwell Nelson, in Mountain Home, Texas. The family moved to Aransas Pass, Texas, where she completed school. She and her younger sister, Reva Nell Nelson Linney played in the Aransas Pass Panther Band. She loved music and played the cornet, violin and harmonica.Sue married N. Howard Walden on November 18, 1939 and they had two children, Sherry Lynn Walden (Herbert) Luhman of Edwards, Colorado and Frank Howard Walden of San Antonio, Texas. Howard preceded her in death on November 14, 1987.She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. She was also active in the community including driving the Book Mobile for the Corpus Christi Public Library.She had been a member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. After 30 years of service, she was retired from the State of Texas, Department of Public Safety.Family was especially important to Sue. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her five siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son, and five grandchildren: Howard Nelson Turner of Austin, Texas, Sheryl Beth Crosby (Ken) Blount of Sanger, Texas, Frank Howard Walden II of Dallas, Texas, Virginia Sue Thomas of Dallas, Texas, and Nicholas Scott Walden of San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by six great-grandchildren: Cody Justin Turner and Christopher Nelson Turner of The Woodlands, Texas, Calvin Montgomery Turner and Chelsea Nicole Turner of Austin, Texas, Kenneth Frederick Blount, Jr. and Patrick Frank Blount of Sanger, Texas. She is also survived by nephew, Allen (Sheryl) Nelson and nieces: Teresa Palmer (Bud) Carter, Joe Ellen Nelson Mack, Judy Walden(David) Ponton and great nephew Joseph Charles Linney.Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2006 at Seaside Funeral Home.A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2:00 P. M. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel in Corpus Christi, Texas.Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Donations may be sent to the
