My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to your family, John. You were one of the sweetest guys I ever knew, especially so mature when we were in high school. You were always thoughtful of others, generous, kind hearted, but ready to defend if there was a need. I'm so happy you were in public service, as you always dreamed. Hope your loved ones were proud of you. Though I haven't seen you in many years, you were always a special person, to me. I'll always remember you as a gentle teddy bear. God comfort your friends and family.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Capper was such a great and loyal friend to me in high school. He was always looking out for his friends and was always so encouraging. We had so many fun times together at youth group and with our friends. What a loss of such a kind and loving person. Prayers for his wife, family, and friends. This will be a difficult time and loss to endure. Praying for comfort and peace and God's presence to be close to you.

John would come to holiday dinners at our home with his wife Christa. And, we would meet at other get togethers. I'm a cops kid and sometimes we would discuss his career. He cared about the job, his brothers and sisters in blue, and the citizens he helped protect. That came through loud and clear.
Sad to die so young.
