Alan Burnett Obituary

Alan G. Burnett, 68, a resident of Crofton for 20 years and previously of Waldorf, died Aug. 20 of natural causes at Knollwood Manor after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Burnett was born Aug. 4,
1941, in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was employed in real estate sales, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-1964 where he served on the Presidential Honor Guard. He was Marine of the Year in 2004. He was a Marine Corps League life member, Commandant of the Free State detachment from 2006-2008, Pedigree Devil Dog life member, D.A.V. life member and Bowie Elks 2309.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane Burnett, whom he married in 1962; two daughters, Diane E. Burnett of Crofton and Michelle B. Albanese of Purcellville, Va.; one sister, Elaine Geis of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Kenny and Christopher.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Marines Helping Marines in honor of Al Burnett c/o Tony Begenwald, 3404 Medina Ln., Bowie, MD 20715.
