James Colbert Obituary
Henry James "Jim" Colbert Jr., Retired Captain of Annapolis City Police Department, and retired District Court of MD, A.A. County, passed on Friday, August 8, 2014. Beloved husband of Cynthia Brown Colbert for 55 years. He is the loving father of Carroll (Jay Jay) Colbert, Kevin Colbert and Deirdre Randall. Grandfather of Terrell, Sarah, Jaylin and Chelsea Colbert. He is also grandfather of Destiny Randall. He is the Great-grandfather of Caleb Colbert. Also surviving are four brothers, Richard of Glen Arden, Phillip, Wilton Leander and Furman of Annapolis; one sister, Lynea Redman of Chestertown, MD; three brothers-in-law, John and Glen Brown and Don Redmond of Chestertown, MD; and one sister-in-law, Geneva Brown, all of Annapolis. Family will receive friends at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West Street, Annapolis, MD on Friday, August 15, 2014. The viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wake 11:30 a.m. to 12 Noon, with Funeral Service to follow. Interment MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.

I worked with Capt. Colbert briefly before his retirement and saw him many times later as a Court Commissioner. I will always remember the calmness in his voice and his laughter. My condolences to the Colbert family.
