Marguerite Marie Crawmer Brown, known affectionately in the community as "Marge", went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2023 after a brief illness. She was 101 years old. Marge was born in Owings Mills and graduated from Westminster High School in 1938. She worked for Glen L. Martin Company before moving to Brooklyn Park where she took a position with Lipton Tea Company. After Lipton moved their offices to New Jersey, she began her employment with the National Security Agency having retired from NSA in 1983 after 25 years of service. She was very active in the community, having lived on Kent Island since 1972. She was a lifetime member of the VFW, Bay Country Moose Lodge #831, American Legion Post #278 and the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with friends at the Senior Center every Tuesday and was also an active Kent Island United Methodist Church Member. Marge Truly enjoyed her time at the KIVFD and was a devoted bingo player, playing bingo every Sunday afternoon, going early to set up and sell cards, and helping to prepare food and snacks for the crowd. She loved being outside tending to her beautiful geraniums and her vegetable garden. She spent many early mornings picking and canning beets, tomatoes and zucchini relish and was especially fond of making zucchini bread to share with friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, Herbert and Hollis Crawmer, Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Albert Brown, Sr., siblings, William Crawmer, Russell Crawmer, and Catherine Stuller, and one son, Ronald Brown. She is survived by her son, Richard A. Brown, Jr. (wife Nancy), two grandsons, David Brown (wife Joann), Daniel Brown (wife Robyn) and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Reagan, Zachary and Dawson. A visitation will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chester, MD on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester, MD on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 10am. Burial will follow the service in Stevensville Cemetery.
