Still hard to believe Stan is gone. He was a good person and was always there when you needed him. He was tough on the kids at school, but was always fair. I always knew I could go to his office and talk to him about a problem I had with a student. He supported me , but also made me see things from a different perspective. I miss his friendship , his smile, and his line dancing with the kids at school dances. I can´t forget his roller skating either when we had skating parties. I will never forget him and I always smile when I think of him.

Mr. Stan truly touched so many lives as a teacher, coach, administrator, referee, mentor, and friend. The Mansfield Family adored him and are honored to have known him. He will never be forgotten for his kindness, and caring nature. God richly blessed our lives with Mr. Stan. Love, Robin (Mansfield) Lewis

Stan has not been forgotten. I was just thinking about him the other day and thinking about the skating parties we had. Stan was always out there skating right a long with the kids. He was a smooth skater and always looked like he was having a good time! Skating with the kids and doing the electric slide with the kids at our school dances always brings a smile to my face. Miss you, Stan.

I think of Stan often. He was a very special man. It is still hard to believe he is gone. I thought he would live forever. I bet he is up in heaven officiating those basketball and football games.

Mr. Chase was vice principal of Sykesville Middle while I was there and I still have the best memories of him coming and singing happy birthday to various groups of students(1987-1990 class). He was funny and even nice when I was sent to his office (due to my algebra 1 classmate playing the 'flinching' game with me). He'll be missed and I didn't realize at the time just how long he'd been educating Carroll County students. As a human, I hope I make an impression on even a fraction of a fraction of the young people Mr. Chase helped through those young years!

Sadly I just found out about Stan´s passing. I refereed many basketball games with Stan over the years. I looked forward every time when I got the chance to referee with him. He was a outstanding referee but more importantly a kind and sincere man. A true gentleman. May Stan Rest In Peace in the house of the Lord.
Sincerely, Thom Meads

I attended SMS from 1982-1985 and loved Mr. Chase. One of my many memories of him was when he tried to be incognito in a baseball hat in his car watching our bus stop one morning. Our bus was always getting called to the office, so I guess he figured he'd better check it out and see what was going on! Rest in peace Mr. Chase. You were truly one of a kind!

When I moved to Carroll County in 1976, I started in the 6th grade at SMS - and I remember Mr. Chase well. Somehow my folks arranged for him to give me a ride home after jazz band practice because they worked and couldn´t pick me up, but Mr. Chase was there and I remember his kindness the most of everything. Thank you, Mr, Chase, for everything, and may your memory be for a blessing.

Last week a friend called and said Mr. Stan Chase passed away. Sadness was quickly felt, yet, rushed away just as quick. Memories started to come to me of my days at SMS both good and bad. Once I too experienced a hat and coat scenario and I have always remembered Mr. Chase as a complete gentleman. If I did something stupid during the week that my parents didn't find out about, they would know late Sunday morning on home games of the Baltimore Colts, he was our Usher. May you rest with our Lord and Saviour Sincerely the Catrino family

Mr. Chase was an amazing human, and educator. He made a difference in so many students lives, he was fair and caring but stern when he had to be. The flood of tributes on social media show just how loved and respected he was! I hope he is shining down on us smiling and seeing how much love there was for him. Rest easy sweet sir.

What a great man. He's the reason so many of us got thru middle school, whether scholastic dreamer (me, SMS Class of '91) or upstart or anywhere in between. I'm so glad I was able to see him again about 7 years ago after 20+ years out.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Chase, on the literal battlefield of Korea, and the whole other battlefield of adolescent academia. You've got your hat and you've got your coat and you've redeemed your ultimate free ice cream pass... and you've gone Home. #RestInPeace #RestInPower #RestInLove

I saw the photo of Mr. Chase in the paper today, and immediately remembered him for the amazing vice principal and human that he was to us kids at Sykesville Middle in the 80´s. I am so sad to hear of his passing. His legacy lives on in each of his students that he loved so well. Who could forget that beaming smile and those rousing "happy birthday" serenades on the microphone at lunchtime? He was more than a teacher or administrator, he was a father figure to so many. I´m so thankful to have known him, and I know he rests now in the arms of the Lord.
