Elmer and I were handball doubles partners who often played against Dick Nelson and Hersch Leibowitz. Elmer would praise Hersch so loudly for his skill at "nearly getting the ball" -- Elmer did the same with his daughter on the tennis courts -- that our laughter would scarcely let us stand. Thanks for the memories, Elmer, and so sorry to hear of you gone.

I spent many happy hours on the handball courts with Elmer and as as an associate at Penn State. I shall miss his "witticisms" and his friendship.
He was one of a kind. His loss leaves me with few friends such as he. I wish to extend my condolences
to his family and say to Elmer "You played one Hell of a game" With saddness, Hal White
