Marjorie E. Schaeffer Orr

Marjorie E. Schaeffer Orr October 1, 1922 - December 21, 2009 Marjorie E. Schaeffer Orr, 87, of Bellefonte, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2009. Born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Benner Township, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Witherite and Rachel Warner Witherite. In 1945 she married Ned Schaeffer who preceded her in death in 1979. She attended the Bellefonte Schools. Marjorie and Ned operated the family farm until his death. She also worked for Penn State University in the Food Services department, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Buffalo Run United Methodist Church. Marjorie is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Rider and her husband, Jack, of Manchester, Pa., Pearl Hampton and her husband, Winfield, of Buffalo Run, Virginia Hartle and her husband, Robert, of Lemont; one son, Jesse Schaeffer and his wife, Barbara, of Buffalo Run; three sisters, Lulu Hoy, of Axemann, Fae Spicer, of Buffalo Run, Lois Burd, of Buffalo Run; and one brother, Charles Witherite, of Centre Hall. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Ronnetta Rider, Ginger Thomas (Mark), Amy Hampton, Linetta Wisler (Brian), Stephanie Culley (Tom), Hugh Rider (Marielle), Jason Schaeffer (Aleica), Gregory Hartle (Jennifer); and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Ned Schaeffer and Edward Orr and by a son, Dennis Schaeffer. There will be a public visitation held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., followed by the funeral service at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte with Pastor Duane Bardo officiating. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buffalo Run United Methodist Church, 126 Apple St., Bellefonte PA 16823.
