Pamela Brown Obituary
Pamela Brown Fields, a loving mother, devoted wife, proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and compassionate caregiver, passed away on September 26, 2025, in her hometown of Charleston, SC. She was 61 years old. Born on December 27, 1963, in Charleston, SC, and raised in Jamaica, Queens, NY, she returned to South Carolina during her teenage years. Pamela was the daughter of Richard Champaigne Sr. and Gloria McClellan Champaigne, both of whom have passed.
From an early age, Pamela was a vibrant soul who discovered her passion for helping others. She pursued a career in nursing and dedicated herself to caring for the elderly, first in a care facility and later through private care. To Pamela, her patients were more than just individuals; they were people she treated with dignity, love, and unwavering compassion.
Pamela was married to her first husband, Gary Brown, with whom she had five children: Latoya, Tamika (deceased), Lavar (deceased), Derrell, and Laqueshia. Her second marriage was to Monroe Fields, her partner through both the joys and challenges of life. She built a family rooted in strength, resilience, and love. She is survived by her three children: Latoya Brown, Derrell Brown (fiancé Alexi), and Laquesha Brown, as well as her stepchildren, Shanelle and Darcell Fields, and twelve cherished grandchildren and four beloved great-grandchildren.
A true matriarch, Pamela's love for her family knew no bounds. She thrived during family gatherings filled with laughter, food, and music-her greatest therapy. Bold, outspoken, and full of life, her spirit could light up any room, and her honesty was matched only by her deep and unconditional love.
Despite facing illness in her later years, Pamela refused to let it define her. She fought a good fight of faith with grace, courage, and an unbreakable will, always refusing to give up.
Pamela will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched through her care and kindness.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three children, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Richard Jr., sister Donna (deceased), brother Timothy, sister Cynthia, brother Michael (deceased), Uncle Kenneth Earl, Aunt Beverly, Aunt Marilyn (aka Tootie), and Aunt Sharon. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Donna and Pam, brother in law Lee Jr. and close family friend Cynthia Roseborough, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In celebrating Pamela's life, we honor her legacy of love, compassion, and steadfastness strength. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those she touched, inspiring us to carry forward her values of kindness and resilience. Rest in peace, dear Pamela; your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
