Barbara Hoover "Jean" Pressley

1938 - 2017

Barbara Hoover Pressley, 79, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on June 3, 2017. She was born in Newton, NC on May 6, 1938 to the late Thomas and Mary Hoover.

Jean loved Jesus, her family and was a caring, kind person. She graduated from Central High School in 1956. Jean was an avid Avon collector, loved puzzles and crocheting.

Jean retired from Southern Bell after 30 years where she worked as an operator, dispatcher, and circuit layout assigner.

Jean was very active in her church, Calvary United Methodist Church, in the Pop Smith's Class. She was involved in Loaves and Fishes and the Crop Walk. Jean was a member of the Eastern Star, Steele Creek Chapter 339, CWA, and the Telephone Pioneers.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill (Junior) Pressley, and her grandson Joshua Pressley. She is survived by her sons, Randy Pressley and his wife Debbie of Indian Trail, NC and Mike Pressley and his wife Patty of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Kasee Neal and her husband Jason, Viola and Madeline Pressley; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Luke Neal; brother, Tommy Hoover and his wife Sally of Clover, SC; sisters, Pat Tesh and her husband Herb of Fort Mill, SC and Cathy Marrow and her husband Steve of Waxhaw, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 512 West Blvd, Charlotte NC 28203

on June 7, 2017. The family will receive friends June 6, 2017 at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service from 6 to 8 PM.

The family wishes to thank the many wonderful people for the care given to their mom at Brightstar Home Health of Fort Mill, SC and Carillon Assisted Living of Monroe, NC. They would also like to thank Dr. Eugene Sangmauh and Dr. Jonna Moreschi.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Novant Hospice-Matthews, or Calvary UMC.
